Order amid Chaos

Holly Warnet

Diagnosis

I was at home by myself, two days later, when the doctor called to say that it was cancer. The call came at 10 o'clock at night. I was so upset that I started running (and I mean running) around the house. I couldn't sit down and I couldn't stay still. It was too late to call Rick, and where he was there was no phone. I had to leave a message for him at the desk. He called me the next day.

I called Holly and told her she had cancer and had to come home. She argued with me and told me she didn't care, she wasn't coming home, everything had to wait till the end of the week. I told her how serious it was and she agreed to come home the next day.

Rick cut his vacation short and came home to be with us. He left the boys with his parents in New York. He arrived home just before Holly did, and the three of us went to Children's Hospital together the following day. We had all the tests and results with us so all they had to do was a bone marrow biopsy.
