Holly Warnet
Our story is a unique one, as we have a Granddaughter from our daughter that passed away from cancer (follicle lymphoma).
In the Beginning
|
My daughter Holly was 16 when she was diagnosed with cancer, just 2 months short of her 17th birthday. The way the cancer was found was she had huge lumps in her groin and small ones in her neck.
I took her to the doctor and she went through a battery of tests. I felt like I was caught in a whirlwind, the doctors were pulling me around to have this test done and that test done. I didn't realize until afterward why they wanted all the tests done so fast. The doctor told me that she either had a bad case of mono or she had cancer. I knew as soon as they said this, that it was cancer.
All the tests came back really fast and they sent us to a surgeon to have a biopsy done on the node in her groin. She had the biopsy completed 1-week before we were supposed to go on vacation. The doctors told me not to let her go, but I let her go anyway. I did this because I figured that this was going to be the last chance to go on vacation and go to New York to see her friends.
Holly went to one part of New York and my husband, Rick, went to another part of New York on vacation with the boys. I stayed home to wait for the results.
