Cease/Reduce Exposure Recommendations
Dover Township Municipal Landfill
Based upon available information. the areas along Silverton Road and in the Silverton section of Dover Township, which have exhibited groundwater contamination in the past, should remain
well restriction zones with regard to the Cohansey aquifer.
Site Characterization Recommendations
Dover Township Municipal Landfill
During the conduct of the DTML Remedial Investigation, environmental media should be analyzed using laboratory methods sensitive to the potential contaminant profile present at the DTML,
to fully characterize the nature and extent of groundwater contamination associated with the site.
The potential for future contaminant release to groundwater should be considered during the Remedial Investigation. Because of the presence of private potable wells down gradient of the DTML,
long-term protection of groundwater quality should be ensured. Proposals for remedial activity at the DTML should be reviewed by the NJDHSS and/or the ATSDR for potential public health implications.
Public Health Recommendation
Based upon review of the completed human exposure pathway in the Silverton section of Dover Township, and in conjunction with the concerns of the community regarding the incidence of childhood cancer, exposure
through this pathway should be examined in the on-going epidemiologic investigation by the NJDHSS and the ATSDR.
